Exactly. This above. It's like telling someone, well, you don't know how great sex can be if you are bisexual to a heterosexual person. How can one person claim how another person's love is. I haven't had kids. There is no certainy if I had them, I would love them or them me. What about the love a person has for not bringing kids into a hateful world where they have to fight for survival each day? I have also heard friends say it makes you selfless, yet these people never call me back and are selfless to me, on,y to their kids, while I am selfless to most of the people I know and love. I find it such a cult mentality, be one of us, and you will know. Only then will you see the light and then it will be too late to back peddle to your dreams or actual sleep. From a woman's view, all that physical pain isn't great either and then you get chewed on breast feeding. Every couple I see out with a young child, the dad seems happy and outgoing while the mom looks and acts like she just got hit by a Mac truck. Not for me.

I wonder if the mother would be so quick to say that sort of thing to somebody who isn't able to have children?

Person: "I can't have children due to medical problems."

Mother: "Oh, you'll never know what love is."

Person: "Well thanks"

Essure update: I've got clearance form my ins. it's still a $200 copay, but worth it! I go in on Friday to get it done.
Brilliant response abaout making sure the she can hear herself when she speaks.

The whole "you're ignorant until you ____" trope is pretty lame if you think about it. If it's true, then everyone who becomes a parent for the first time is becoming a parent out of ignorance. If it's true, then everyone who has a child does it because he/she doesn't really know what's going to happen. If every childfree person is ignorant, then that includes every first-time parent as well.

I tend to think if a parent can't explain the feeling, then perhaps his/her descriptive powers are lacking. Maybe lack of sleep has a negative impact on one's vocabulary.

Y'know I find it kind of ironic how certain parents can say blatantly rude or insensitve things to the childfree, but then rant on and on about dumb things that other people say to them about child rearing.
It's crazy!

You're very welcome :) I'll be hanging around a while! As far as the Essure-I'm waiting to hear back from the gyno about how much (if any) my insurance will cover. The NP that I spoke with said that a lot of the time it's fully covered or is only the cost of a copay. Though, Aetna (my ins. provider) isn't very birthcontrol friendly, so I don't know if they'll be as helpful as other providers. I can absolutely keep you all updated if you want. Thanks for everything!
